Assignment Appearance
Effort
Effort, regardless of ability, must be exhibited in every assignment.
Appearance
All assignments are to be neat and uniform in appearance. Standard-sized paper, either college ruled or wide ruled, should be used to submit work. All edges of the page should be clean and smooth (i.e. there should not be any spiral tabs left hanging on the paper). Binder holes should be oriented to the left side of the page. Writing should be legible; assignments may only be in pencil or dark (black or blue) ink.
Each assignment should be properly headed by listing the name, subject with period, assignment title, and date in the upper right-hand corner of the page. The heading should appear as follows:
First and Last Name
Class - Period
Assignment
Month Day, Year
Paragraphs should be uniformly indented (no more than five letter spaces or the width of two fingers). Mistakes should be neatly erased or, in the case of an assignment written in ink, marked through with a single line (mistake). Papers should be scribble-free and not crumpled.
Deviation from the standard format will only be permitted if announced in advance by the teacher. Failure to follow these guidelines may result in an assignment being returned for rewriting.
Work Completion
Reasonable effort will be made by the teacher to clearly convey instructions either orally or in writing, but students are ultimately responsible for ensuring that all directions are noted and followed. Students are also expected to submit work within the time-frame set forth by the teacher. Failure to follow directions or to submit work on time will result in grade penalties or rejection of the assignment as determined by the teacher.
The preferred method of paper submission is electronically, in Microsoft Word (not in the body of an email), by e-mail no later than 10:00 p.m. on the day the assignment is due.
